© Beverley Paine "The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveller than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination." Marion Zimmer Bradley It helps to have a collection of quotes from my personal heroes - people who I look up to, admire and wish to emulate in some way. Over the years I've collected quotes in a file - most of them are on my web page http://homeschoolaustralia.com/articles/quotes.html When you're studying superheroes or mythical heroes, or famous men and women from history, or great religious leaders encourage your children to add sayings by these great people (even the fictional ones!) to their collection of quotes. They can make posters of the ones that have the most impact on their lives right now and put these posters in a prominent place in their bedrooms. One of my favourite fictional quotes comes from Yoda of Star Wars fame: "Try not, do".

Pioneering members of the home education movement in Australia, Beverley and Robin Paine are passionate advocates of true educational choice for families. They began homeschooling their children in 1986 and three years later started the South Australian Home Based Learners network. Beverley wrote several books and booklets on home education through her self-publishing business, Always Learning Books, and maintained an extensive collection of websites as well as several Yahoo groups supporting families teaching their children at home. Beverley retired from actively supporting home education in July 2008 to allow her to spend time on her garden and writing projects. She continues to support the Home Education Association of Australia as a committee member.
